The chapter begins with a warning not to ignore rebukes or risk being “destroyed without remedy.” This is similar to a number of other verses in the bible that warn about “hardening your heart” such as the writer of Hebrews warns in Hebrews 3:12-13 (WEB):ġ2 Beware, brothers, lest perhaps there might be in any one of you an evil heart of unbelief, in falling away from the living God 13 but exhort one another day by day, so long as it is called “today”, lest any one of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.Ģ When the righteous become numerous, the people rejoice when the wicked rule, the people groan.
